ACLGIM LEAD Program 2019

Description

The LEAD program is designed for junior to mid-career faculty who wish to further develop their leadership skills. Training and coaching from leadership scholars and successful GIM leaders is provided at the ACLGIM/SGIM spring meeting and continues for one year afterwards. Participants please be willing to attend both the ACLGIM Hess Leadership & Management Institute and the LEAD components of the SGIM national meeting. Program expectations include monthly independent readings/assignments with online discussions and regularly scheduled direct communication with an ACLGIM LEAD coach during the 12 months following the program start. At the end of the one year of successful participation, LEAD Participants receive an SGIM/ACLGIM LEAD certificate. Participants for the LEAD program are chosen via a competitive application process.

Application Requirements

In order to complete your application, you must submit the following materials:

Brief statement of interest in the LEAD Certificate program (do not exceed one page)

  • In your statement, please address what leadership in medicine means to you, what are your current leadership roles, your personal goals for your career, and your thoughts regarding how the program will benefit you.
  • Please describe a specific leadership goal or activity you plan to work on throughout your LEAD year.  You will be asked to intermittently report back on your progress on this goal or activity through your program year,  if selected.

Current CV 

Letter of support from your Division Chief or supervisor. This letter should include: 

  • Current leadership responsibilities of the applicant
  • Suitability of the applicant for future leadership roles 
  • Rationale for the applicant’s participation in the LEAD program 
  • Agreement for the applicant to attend the Hess Institute and national SGIM meeting.
  • Agreement to support the applicant’s successful completion of the certificate program.
